Scripture: “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” — Matthew 6:33 (ESV)
Life can feel like a whirlwind of needs, worries, and responsibilities. We get caught up in our finances, our children, our jobs, and our health. Even when we pray, our minds are still busy trying to fix everything ourselves. But Jesus gives us a gentle and powerful reminder in Matthew 6, “Seek first the kingdom of God.”
He doesn’t say to ignore your problems. He says to reorder your priorities. Instead of chasing solutions or stressing over what might happen, God calls us to pursue Him, His presence, His righteousness, and His ways. When we make knowing and pleasing God our first goal, He takes care of the rest. Verse 32 reminds us that our Heavenly Father knows what we need!
Worry puts our focus on what we lack. Seeking God first shifts our focus to Who is in control. When we trust God with our needs, we make space for His peace to fill the places where anxiety once lived.
God’s Kingdom is built on faith, love, and obedience. When you choose to seek Him first — through prayer, reading His Word, serving others, and walking in righteousness — you are aligning your heart with His. And in that alignment, everything else finds its place.
✨ Reflection:
What area of your life have you been trying to control on your own? Take a moment today to release it to God. Ask Him to help you seek His kingdom above all else, and trust that He will provide what you need in His perfect time.
🙏 Prayer:
Heavenly Father, help me to put You first in everything I do. When I start to worry, remind me that You know my needs and that Your plans are good. Teach me to trust You completely and to seek Your Kingdom above all else. I believe that as I do, you will take care of every detail of my life. Jehovah Jireh, you are my provider. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
