✨Devotional: If God is For You

“In my distress I prayed to the Lord, and the Lord answered me and set me free. The Lord is for me, so I will have no fear. What can mere people do to me? Yes, the Lord is for me; he will help me. I will look in triumph at those who hate me.” Psalm 118:5–7 NLT

Pressure has a way of shrinking our world. Stress starts to tightens the chest. Fear narrows our vision. And Trouble makes life feel small and tight like there’s no way out. But Psalm 118 reminds us of a powerful truth: God hears the cry that comes out of the pressure. Out of “distress.”

The psalmist who wrote this recalled a time when they were overwhelmed, distressed, and surrounded by trouble. And yet, did the most important thing—he called on the Lord. Not on his own strength. Not on people. Not on his own plans. He called on the One who actually could help. And God answered!

God’s answer wasn’t just relief, it was freedom. When God rescues us, He doesn’t barely pull us out. He brings us into a life where we can lift our heads again, breathe again, hope again. Jesus tells us in John 10:10 that He came so that we would have life more abundantly!

Although people may disappoint us, our faith lies in The One who is above all.
What God has for us and ours and only we can stop it. When the Lord is your helper, the opinions and actions of others lose their power.

God is not a distant observer. He is always close to you. He’s your strength, your defender, your wisdom, your peace, and your God.

He stands with you in the pressure and leads you into the peace.

Prayer

Lord, when pressure surrounds me, remind me to call on You. Help me to remember that you are always with me and I can call on you at all times. You promised never to leave me nor forsake me. I believe your promises because you cannot lie! You are He that was, and is, and is to come. You are the creator of all things. You knew what you had predestined for me before you formed me in my mother’s womb. Thank you that you have plans to prosper me and give me hope and a future, according to Jeremiah 29:11. Thank You for being my helper and my peace. In Jesus’ name! Amen.
